London fashion week guide for beginners

As we get settled into the new year and watch the last days of January fade away, we feel the weather getting slightly warmer in preparation for Spring which can only mean one thing, its nearly time for London fashion week. I have been to many seasons and try my best to go every year, in case you're not too sure what it is and you're curious or just getting into the whole fashion world thing, London fashion week is the most magical time of year for anyone studying in, working in or just completely infatuated with fashion. It's a chance to see new collections, new up and coming designers and attend some great after parties but in order to make the most out of these 5 days, it's best to plan ahead so below I'm sharing some of my top tips that I've learnt over the years (and that I wish I had known before)

Pack some comfy shoes
This sounds like an obvious one, but when an outfit is looking on point carrying a pair of trainers in an extra nonmatching big bag will kill your look, plus whilst waiting around outside of the entrance of a 'running late' show, the bag will start to feel heavy. I opt to match my looks with heels that I know will be comfy and are broken into well before I need to wear them, this includes platforms because the heels are made level, which makes them feel like flats. I also carry around a flexible pair of ballerina flat shoes, these are sold in most department stores, do the job and doesn't take up any room SORTED

Plan a schedule
Some shows happen close to each other and some are on opposite sides of town, it's important to pick which ones you want to attend and plan around them, because rushing from show to show will make you late and tired and potentially miss your favourite designers runway.

Bring the essentials
Always make sure you remember to bring your invitations, LFW is like any other invite-only event, no ticket no entry - Only after parties work on a guestlist entry basis, and I can't tell you how disappointing it is waiting for a show you can't attend. Make sure you remember your ID for the after parties, this almost as importing as taking the invitations themselves, after parties are a great way to meet designers and important people in fashion in a more relaxed environment.

Charge your Camera and Phone
I always charge my Canon all night the night before, I also pack an extra SD card and a portable iphone charger - At this time of year nearby plugs are almost impossible to find!!

Dress to Impress
Make sure you get a good nights sleep and look your very best especially for day 1 and 2 of LFW and especially if you want to get noticed, Vogue photographers and magazine editors are walking around EVERYWHERE. if you want to get noticed, this is your shot!!

Have fun
This is a great time of year and great way to meet new people and see new designs, make sure you make the most of it and enjoy yourself!!

London Fashion begins on Friday 18th and Ends on Tuesday 20th February. If you miss this season, you have another chance to go in September :)

YOUPEOPLE Launch Event Review 23.11.17

Last Thursday evening I was invited to the launch of 'YOUPEOPLE' for a chance to view their debut collection, created by Emma Dayal.

Each Jacket is inspired by a different inspirational cause and a mixture of their 'love of carnival' on the collars 'Support for freedom' on the sleeves and desire for 'a Basquiat comeback' on the vest.

I was very excited to see these creations that weren't only Fashion but also Art, so I put my highest heels on paired with the longest of my winter jackets and grabbed my plus one to insure we arrived on time.

I luckily missed rush hour on the busy London tubes, and happily walked beneath the colorful sparkling lights of a very picturesque Christmassy Oxford street down to Nobo Studios.

Upon arrival, both I and my plus one were greeted by a lovely door girl and escorted downstairs by a very friendly host. As I walked down the staircase I noticed the eye-catching brand name painted in monochrome and used as a catchphrase such as 'You Nice People'  which was one of many, I loved this added family feel detail.

As I lifted my head up from the staircase, I walked into an open space white room with a small separate bar area. My eyes immediately caught sight of a selection of 20 different Arty fashion-forward denim jackets hanging on a long white rail attached to the ceiling with chain strings.

Each piece was unique but every one of them was as great as the other one. Some had embellishments and embroidery on them, some were ripped with hanging feathers, some had glitter on them, some had detachable sleeves and other had a mixture of all of the elements.

The denim jackets are interchangeable with detached features such as the vest, collars and sleeves, which allows the wearer to mix and match depending on the mood and style preferences.

Whilst admiring the well-organized room and showcased denim sleeves, I was directed to an open bar by another lovely member of staff and had a choice of a range of cocktails and other alcoholic beverages prepared by 2 very insightful bartenders. I chose a gin and tonic with a strawberry twist, it tasted fresh and delightful and was personally created for the event. I got my lovely cocktail and walked back to the stunning denim jackets and observed them for a while more as I was introduced to more of the invited guests and celebrities.

After a few hours passed by, my bedtime was fast approaching so I reluctantly decided to say my goodbyes to my new acquaintances. I ordered my Uber to head home. During my ride, I thought of all the lovely jackets I had fallen in love with and all of the creation, research and time that was put in making such stunning pieces. All in all, it was a good event, my only wish is that I could have stayed later!!!

Restaurant Review

Last night I attended the Piano Works in Farringdon London, Where I was greeted and served by their lovely and accommodating staff. Alan Lorrimer is welcoming a growing number of customers to the doors of his latest venue, The Piano Works offers great food, fabulous cocktails, and a stylish decor.  The cool venue is attracting club goers, many of them women aged 24-25 with a spending power who, after a hard days work want something more, safer and better from a night out. At the Piano Works, there is plenty of seating space and Live music. Admission prices are reasonable and the drink prices are matched with comparable London bars. At the Piano Works, there are 2 pianists/ vocalists as well as 4 accompanying musicians, and they only play songs that are the requested by the audience.
This place is perfect for a girlie evening, Birthday or just after work drinks, check the website below

Teami 30 day detox plan

As summer approaches I am slowly getting swimsuit ready and ditching my old habits of  binge eating and rarely working out for a new healthier lifestyle, whilst hitting the gym for 1 - 2 hours a night, I am also on a teatox plan.

I'm currently on the 30 day detox plan and drinking Teami Skinny tea before breakfast and then the Teami Colon tea every other night right before bed, I never add any sugar to my teas so when I want it to taste sweeter I just add some honey.

I'm absolutely in love with this Teami tea, it does everything it promises to do and gets rid of the bad toxins in you that your body has been storing  for years!!

Using this teatox plan is pretty simple and straight forward and as I say about everything, make sure you FOLLOW the instructions and you'll be fine!!

There's also a cute little leaflet included with tips, instructions and a calendar on which tea you should drink and when, which is SUPER HELPFUL!!!

My honest verdict is, if you're looking for a great tea that doesn't taste disgusting, is enjoyable to drink and ACTUALLY WORKS, then please give this one a go (You can thank me later;) )
